Welcome to Lavender Lane Library
My name is Rachel Irene, author of this blog, music teacher, poet and reader. On this blog you will find reviews and thoughts of classic novels, historical novels / writings, music history and composer biography, along with some poetry and nature writing discussion.
This blog was started on a whim, after finishing another book on a rain-speckled winter night, under many blankets and a colourful, floral quilt. The final turn of the page left me with a sudden need to talk about the book. Living in a house filled with only occasional-readers, my next best option was to pour my ramblings into a blog (which I can guarantee my family will be thankful for). Because any bibliophile, any reader, however extroverted or introverted, will at some point in their reading road (or lane) feel the need to discuss the books they are reading. So, whether or not there are any views on this blog, I will be satisfied to read books and write about them as eloquently as I can (another favourite hobby).
M y hope is that whoever stumbles onto this little lavender lane of the internet will find a bookish kindred spirit, perhaps a place to discover new books, or rediscover old favourites from a different perspective. Feel free to join along if you enjoy Victorian and Edwardian literature, books about wildflowers and historical accounts, with the scent of bouquets of dried lavender floating through a dusty library filled with towering shelves of 500+ books (or, the place I spend all my days).
I hope your mug is always filled with tea and the good books ever long,
Rachel
